Description: Whip scorpions are similar to the true scorpions except they don’t have a poisonous sting. As a defense they can squirt a fluid from a gland situated at the base of the tail. Whip scorpions are often confused with cave spiders or wind scorpions commonly known as camel spiders. They are able to squeeze into small spaces where they feed on tiny insects or worms but Larger ones can also feed small animals like frogs. They have very strong pincers and sharp teeth. The first pair of legs are much longer than the other three pairs and are thinner. They have a long thread like tail covered with fine hairs that can be waved around like a whip giving them a common name of whip scorpions.
